February 2023

The end of 2022 saw a flurry of activity in Toulouse, with the University of Toulouse III - Paul Sabatier hosting 6 secondments, APDOC hosting 3, and Fabrice Gangneron (GET) and Mehdi Saqalli (GEODE) returning to Côte d'Ivoire to complete their secondment on documenting farming practices and consolidating new research collaborations (see Secondments below).

In November, the INSA coordination team spent 2 weeks in Kenya beginning preparations for the second INSA workshop, scheduled for October 2023. Also on secondment at ILRI in Nairobi in November, Suzanne Jacobs from JLU was focused on reviewing studies on nitrogen in rivers and streams in sub-Saharan Africa.

Recall that the objectives of the INSA project are to propose a synthesis of studies on nitrogen in Africa, and promote capacity building, skills strengthening and knowledge transfer between European and African experts on the topic of nitrogen in Africa. A project brief is available here together with a flyer about the project.
